Professor Agyeman Badu- Akosa, Leading Member of Convention Peoples Party (CPP) on Thursday expressed concern about the continuous retention of the major parties in power after all the mess they had caused to the economy.
Prof Akosa referred to the ruling National Democratic Congress and main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP)
He has therefore charged Ghanaians especially the youth and women who constitute the bulk of the population to vote them out in the next general election.
Prof Akosa who was speaking on Thursday during a news conference to mark the 65 anniversary celebration of the CPP said that poor policies had caused more than 80 per cent of Ghanaians to be poor with little or nothing to eat.
He noted that during the era of Kwame Nkrumah, CPP worked to ensure that jobs were in abundant in the country to the extent that more than 5,000 Liberians and Sierra Leoneans were invited to work in the country.
He urged politicians to eschew cronyism and work to satisfy the masses who vote them into power as neglect of the masses after elections make them distrust them.
He expressed belief in the ability of the black man to excel and praised Mr Kwesi Appiah, Coach of the Black Stars for his achievements and called on Ghanaians to rally behind him at the World Cup.
Mr Bright Akwetey, Head of Legal Committee, CPP, urged the youth to desist from travelling outside to seek greener pastures and always put the interests of the nation first in all their endeavours.
He expressed concern about the sale of state assets and the control of the natural resources of the country by foreigners, describing it as detrimental to national development.
He expressed wonder why Government would sit aloof for a company to lay off about 6,000 workers regardless of it socio-economic implications on their families and the nation as a whole.
He called on the Government to revisit the economic policies of Dr Nkrumah as it was the best panacea to the socio-economic mess the country had found itself.
