34 BECE Candidates Pregnant In Takyiman

34 teenage Junior High School girls who are supposed to be participating in this year�s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Takyiman might not be able to due to pregnancy reports. According to the Public Relationship Officer of the Takyiman Municipal Education Directorate, Koblah Abochie, the directorate is aware that 34 girls are suspected to be pregnant in the municipality but said he is unable to confirm whether they will all turn up to write the exams. He however noted that those who will turn up will be allowed to write without being prevented from doing so, just as directed by the GES. Meanwhile, the Brong Ahafo region has started the examination with an expected number of 39,728 registered candidates out of which 18,000 are female and 21728 been male. As at the time of filling this report the Regional Minister Hon. Eric Opoku and the Regional Director of Education Dr. Agyei Hine had toured the Sunyani SHS and the Ridge SHS with a call on students to abide by the rules and regulations of WAEC to avoid their papers being cancelled. While the Deputy Minister of Education Hon. Alex Kyereme is touring the Takyiman north and south as well as the Wenchi Municipality to motivate the candidates and also observe how they are conducting themselves.
