What A Shame!!! Pratt Cries...Demands Apology For Detention Of Daily Graphic Photographer

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has asked the Ghana Police Service to apologise to a Daily Graphic photographer who was arrested and detained for nearly four hours on Monday owing to the over-zealousness of some Israeli security officials. Mr. Emmanuel Asamoah Addai who was assigned to cover the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ghana and Israel was arrested by the Israeli security personnel for carrying in his bag six bottles of herbal medicine he had to take every one hour due to his ill-health. According to sources, the Israeli security mistook the herbal medicines to be explosives and immediately restrained Mr. Addai from entering the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel (where the MoU was being signed) even though he had earlier been cleared. Mr Addai was subsequently handed over to the Ministries Police and was released after writing his statement. Kwesi Pratt who found the incident appalling, told Kwami Sefa Kayi on Kokrokoo that the Ghana Police should have come to the aid of the photographer since they understand and know what herbal medications are. There was no reason for the detention of this cameraman. We behave differently when foreigners come in the country. Ghana Police Service were there and knowing that it was indeed a herbal medicine should have done something to help the guy but they did nothing. The innocent photographer was detained four hours for carrying herbal medicinewe should apologise to this photographer for the treatment he received. What a shame! What a shame!! Someone who is sick he bemoaned.
