NDC To Distribute Gas Cylinders For Votes

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been accused of planning to distribute gas cylinders to the electorate in order to win the next general elections. It has emerged that the distribution of the gas cylinders would take place in constituencies in the Nzema area of the Western Region. All the three parliamentary seats in the entire Nzema Land, which include Ellembelle, Jomoro and Evalue-Gwira, are being held by NDC Members of Parliament (MP). However, the Jomoro branch of the NPP alleged that the NDC has never won any elections genuinely in the area. The NPP has gathered that the NDC will resort to vote-buying by distributing gas cylinders to people in some remote areas of the country, particularly in the Nzema area. The constituency chairman, Ernest Kwofie alleged that the ruling party gave out boxes containing GH₵50.00 to some voters on the election day. At a time when workers were complaining of unpaid salaries and when subsidies to senior high schools had not been paid, the NDC government found money to buy vehicles to woo students to vote for them, he asserted. He therefore advised NPP supporters in the area to be vigilant and not succumb to the machinations of the NDC. Mr Kwofie was speaking at the inauguration of the various committee members of the NPP from all the zones of the party in the Jomoro constituency at Tikobo No.1 in the area. Mr Kwofie stressed that the NPP would use all legitimate means possible to win the 2016 elections. According to him, the call for change had become increasingly loud and Ghanaians were yearning for the NPP due to the failure of the NDC administration. The failure of the current NDC government makes it imperative for the NPP not to disappoint Ghanaians but to use all legitimate means to win power in 2016, stressed. Kwofie maintained that the party had learnt lessons and would adopt comprehensive measures to prevent the NDC from manipulating the outcome of the elections. Charles Bissue, the Western Regional Secretary of the NPP, pledged that the party would support the polling station executives at the grassroots level. He appealed to supporters of the party to continue propagating the good news about the party to the electorate and also debunk the propaganda of the NDC about the NPPs intended policies.
