Young African Leaders To Participate In Presidential Summit

The Young African Leaders selected from among entrepreneurs, public servants, and civil society sectors to represent Ghana have arrived in the United States. A statement from the United States Embassy in Accra congratulated Hillarius Asiwome Abiwu, Harriet Yayra Adzofu, Regina Agyare, Johannes Arthur, Lily Asare, Ethel Cofie, Ruka De-Liman, Frank Akowuge, Kwasi Owusu, Araba Hammond, Oteng Karikari, Williams Kwarah, Laud Boateng, Christiana Okyere, Afua Prempeh, Dziedzorm Segbefia, Moses Tia, Valerie Larbie. The finalists are based in six of Ghana�s 10 regions. The statement indicated that for the next six weeks, they will explore and develop leadership skills, public-private partnerships, community service at the following host institutions: Morgan State, Florida International, Dartmouth, Wagner College, University of Minnesota, Yale, University of Wisconsin-Stout, Arizona State University, Notre Dame, Tulane, UC Berkeley and Clark Atlanta University The program will unite the 500 Young African Leaders in Washington DC from July 28 to 30 for the Presidential Summit for the Fellows convened by President Obama. The Washington Fellowship is a key part of President Obama�s commitment to invest in the future of Africa. The White House created this initiative out of recognition of the critical and increasing role that young Africans are playing in strengthening democratic institutions, spurring economic growth, and enhancing peace and security in Africa.
