Rumpus In NPPAgyarko Rips Into Bugri Naabu

A leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has hit hard at the Northern Regional Chairman of the party, Daniel Bugri Naabu over his disparaging remarks about the party's National Chairman, Paul Afoko. Hon. Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency opines Bugri Naabu's comment is an affront to the personality of the National Chair and so, admonished party members not to condone his misconduct. He also issued a stern warning to the Northern Regional Chairman to discontinue casting invectives on Paul Afoko. The Northern Regional Chairman accused Mr. Afoko and his cohorts of masterminding the suit filed against the party forcing the National Council to call off a crucial meeting geared towards the election of a Presidential candidate. Mr. David Hoezame, a leading member of the NPP, on June 17 this year filed a motion for an interim injunction specifically praying the Accra High Court to restrain the NPP from conducting the Presidential elections until the final determination of the suit. The motion will be heard on July 3, 2014. But according to Bugri Naabu, who spoke to Okay FM over the weekend, it was deliberately orchestrated by the National Chairman who feels the current National Council is not properly constituted. It is a deliberate attempt to disorganize NPP, the party we have toiled and suffered for. But we are not going to accept that..the court case is orchestrated by Paul Afoko to delay the Council mandate to fix date for the congress. It wont auger well because Ghanaians wont forgive us if we dont work hard to regain power from the NDC. Ghanaians will curse NPP and we will suffer for it but we are not ready for that..the man who has taken the party to court is not known to meall I know is that he supported Paul Afoko during his campaign to be the partys National Chair," Bugri Naabu said. Reacting to the issue on Peace FMs Kokrokoo, Hon. Kyeremateng Agyarko insisted that the NPPs Northern Regional Chairman should not in any way forget that the National Chair was elected by the party's delegates and so, he "cannot speak about him that way. In the same way nobody in the north will speak about him (Bugri) in that manner, he should also not voice out his views about a leader in such fashion." Bugri Naabu and the entire executive body must begin to respect the choice of the party so that in the selection of a flagbearer, when the party delegates make a choice; all of us will respect the decision." "Why do you want to bring our Chairman down?" he queried.
