The Executive Director of Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, Dr. Zagba Oyortey has asked Ghanaians to desist from exporting artifacts of historical importance. He said immigration officers will be trained to identify and stop people from crossing the borders with such items. Dr. Oyortey said monuments and artifacts should be preserved for posterity. This will enable Ghanaians to know their cultural heritage and tell their history the African way. Dr. Oyortey was speaking in Accra at the media launch of fragmentary ancestors. A Senior Lecturer in Archaeology and Heritage Studies at the University of Ghana, Samuel Nkumbaan touched on some benefits the country will derive if it develops its heritage centres.
