I Dont Want A Drop Of Blood Spilled In Our NameIll Get To The Bottom Of This

There was a near-bloody fight at the Asylum Down Headquarters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday, when a scuffle broke out between security guards appointed by the old executives and those allegedly appointed by the new executives. The timely arrival of the police from the Nima Divisional Command prevented what could have been a bloody spectacle since the old guards fiercely resisted the attempt by the new security guards to take over their duties at the party's National Headquarters. This heightened the ever rising tension in the NPP as some members laid the blame at the doorsteps of the new executives. General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyepong, has however denied the new executives involvement in the fracas and has promised to get to the bottom of it. I have not given any order for the current security agents to be changed. If anybody has a problem, all you need to do is to ask; our doors are always opened, he said. Condemning the incident in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of Peace FMs flagship programme, Kokrokoo, Kwabena Agyapong said the two sides should have followed the partys hierarchy in addressing their grievances. Our party was built on love, hard work and unity and so tempers must calm down. It is not good to wash our dirty linen in public. The rumour-mongering is becoming too much and that is not helping the party. I will conduct investigation and get to the bottom of this issue because I dont know those involved personally. Members should know that the party has a hierarchy which must be followed; all you need to do is to ask. I dont want one drop of blood spilled in the name of our executives, he stated. Mr. Agyapong admonished those who are taking advantage of the tension in the party; saying some people are taking this as an enterprise, forming various groups and making money out of it but that is not helpful. He said as party members, your first responsibility is to exhibit characters which will not undermine the party; it is a voluntary organisation, yes, but we must respect the laws we set ourselves.
