Impostor Arrested At Bank

A businessman who posed as a banker and swindled a customer of the Ghana Commercial Bank, Liberty branch of GH�7,240 has been arrested by security personnel of the bank. Kwaku Badu Eshun, 51, is reported to have duped another customer of GH�1,500 at the same bank last January, this year. According to the police, he used the same method to dupe a lot of people, on different occasions. The Accra Central District Crime Officer, Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Kwame Owusu Sekyere told The Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday that on June 30, at about 8:30 in the morning, Eshun went to the banking hall and introduced himself to one of the officials that he was a customer and wanted to deposit some money. Eshun posed as an official of the bank and went to a customer in the queue and told him he wanted to assist him deposit his money into his account. He collected GH�7,240 from the Victim, Bennet Eshun and pretended to deposit it, but attempted to abscond with it. He was, however captured by the Close Circuit Television (CCT), and arrested by the security personnel and handed over to the police. DSP Sekyere said Eshun is assisting the police with their investigations and would be put before court after that.
