Zoomlion Workers In Tears!

Workers of Zoomlion Ghana Limited are wailing in pain and agony over the companys inability to pay them their salaries over the past six (6) months. For six months now we have not been paid? How are we expected to survive? The salary is nothing to write home about but we have no option because there are no jobs and man must survive. Scores of Zoomlion workers under the sanitation module (those who sweep the streets) who called into our office complained bitterly about the treatment being meted out to them. According to the workers, the issue about the delay of their salaries has always been an unending matter and questioned why the company has not been able to solve the matter once and for all. They said they have complained a thousand times all to no avail, but on one occasion they were called and each person was given twenty GHC (20) to calm down while management tried to solve the problem. They said their counterparts in the other regions of Ghana are also in the same situation. The workers averred that considering the harsh economic situation in the country the company must do all it can to pay them, stressing they are bread winners and therefore their dependents are also feeling the pinch. When contacted, Communications Manager for Zoomlion Ghana limited, Mr. Robert Coleman blamed government for their inability to pay. He said government owes them so much but has not been able to pay them and thats the effect of what the workers are experiencing. He pleaded with government to release monies owed the company in other that they meet their obligations to the workers.
