NDC Celebrates Prof Atta Mills As Second Anniversary Is Marked

On the 24th July, 2012, Ghana stood still, the clouds were darkened and tears flowed on every face when Ghanaians were hit with the demise of President John Evans Atta Mills. Many thought it was an expensive joke and that the man known as the Asomdwehene was alive; or that they will wake and realise that it was all but a dream. However, it was never a dream and today marks the second year since the passing of Prof Mills. A statement issued and signed by Mr George Lawson, acting General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) indicated that there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at 8:30 am at the Asomdwe park, Osu Castle. Then at 3pm the second annual Atta Mills Memorial Lectures to be addressed by Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas will be held at the Physician and Surgeon Centre. Mr Lawson further stated that the scar of the shock of his death that greeted the National Democratic Congress (NDC) family and the entire nation will take a longer time to heal. But he will forever be remembered for what he stood fortoday as we remember this gem of a man, we call on Ghanaians to emulate him. The NDC wishes to reaffirm its commitment to the Social Democratic Philosophy of which the late President was a firm believer and advocate.
