Kufuor Faction To Back Nana If

Credible reports from the John Agyekum Kufuor faction in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) now led by John Alan Kyerematen, indicated that they are slowly accepting the inevitable; that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be difficult to beat for the NPP 2016 flagberership slot. The reports have it that the Kufuor faction has made an offer that when Nana Akufo-Addo wins the partys 2016 slot, they will only help him to be President if he changes Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia as his running mate. Sources close to the Kuffuor/Alan faction told the Daily Dispatch that the main reasons for Dr. Bawumia to be changed as running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo is that if Nana Akufo-Addo becomes President, Dr. Bawumia as vice would be getting enough political clout and money to succeed Nana Akufo-Addo when he retires from the presidency. In fact, Dr. Bawumia will be the man to beat in any of our internal elections. We have no problem with Dr. Bawumia as a person. He is a fine brilliant young man capable for the position but the point is that we want to part of the leadership of future NPP government and the party as well. This explanation confirms the issue raised by a leading member of the NPP and member of Akufo-Addo faction in NPP, Brig-Gen. (Rtd) J. Odei in an article to the media entitled Who Owns the NPP? Part of the article in question said there is a small section of people who think that Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia have become too popular in the party and therefore their wings must be clipped. The fear of the Northern Bright Star Bawumias popularity is the fact that should Nana become President, Bawumia could easily step into his shoes. Dr. Bawumia singlehandedly earned his popularity through his exemplary performance at the Supreme Court and his brilliant lectures on the state of the national economy. Brig-Gen. Odei also had an advice for the NPP; in a political party the pursuit of any interest by any group of people within the party is good and is permitted, provided such interest will not seek to divide the partys front or deliberately seek to prevent or undermine the interest of other groups.
