The Klottey Korle Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has begun a sensitization programme for its members aimed at equipping them to be battle ready ahead of the 2016 general election.
The five-day training event which started on Monday was on the theme, �Strengthening the Grassroots Structures for Victory in 2016.�
Addressing the gathering, the chairman of the constituency, Nii Noi Nortey said his outfit is the first constituency to hold such a training programme for its members.
�Being the first constituency to hold a training programme to guide its 156 polling station executives, it is expected that by the time we are done our executives will be well educated on the electoral processes.
�We have started this with Tudu and Adabraka Electoral areas. We have some executives from the party to lecture and explain matters of the party to us at the constituency level. The electoral processes, database system, votes canvassing and consolidation.�
Members were taken through the entire electoral processes aimed at equipping them prior to their anticipated victory in 2016.
Speaking to the DAILY HERITAGE after the first of the five days,Nii Noi Nortey explained that the motive behind the training was to equip station executives and agents on their duties and roles as polling station executives in the party.
He reassured that their loyalty to the party is what will bring them victory.
�The main motive behind this training programme is to strengthen our grassroots structures in the party and in the constituency as well. We believe elections are won in the polling stations, and I also believe our polling station executives are supposed to know their duties in the party, so we are training them on these things, so that they will know that joining a political party is all about loyalty and then knowledge of the party and voluntary services.��
According to him, the executives of the constituency are expected to be enlightened so that at the end of the programme, they will act and understand the roles they are supposed to perform for the party.
�We have come to realize that, most of our polling station executives do not really know their roles, and the mandate they have carried onto themselves, and I believe that if you realize something and you go back to fix it well, it helps,�� he added.
