Appreciation To His Excellency And Request For Dissolution Of The Board

The Korle Bu Senior Staff Association (KOSSA) wish to thank His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, for the appointment of Dr. Gilbert Buckle as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital and to also request for the removal of Mr. Eddie Annan, Board Chairman and the dissolution of the Board. Sustainable peace and the objective of ensuring industrial harmony in the nations premier Hospital will continue to elude the Hospital and Ghanaians if the Eddie Anan-led Board is allowed to stay in office. The new chief executive, in the person of Dr. Gilbert Buckle, will need a free hand, peaceful industrial atmosphere devoid of intimidation and unnecessary interference to prosecute the agenda of change in the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. With Eddie Anan hanging around as the super godfather of the Hospital with his team whose competence and ability to deliver have been questioned by staff and other stakeholders of the hospital on their actions and inactions serving as the empirical evidence. It is an established fact that the Hospitals progress has been reversed by the Eddie Anan led board that exhibited incompetence, inexperience, arrogance and intolerance and in the process failing to tackle pertinent issues and therefore bringing the hospital to the lowest level in the management history of the hospital. Retaining the board reflects the good old adage that old wine is being put in new bottles and the value will be the same. While still thanking His Excellency for his wisdom we would appreciate the continuation of the special audit excersise that was directed by Hon. Sherry Ayittey in her directives on the appointment of a new CEO and authorising the Auditor General to commence the exercise. This has become necessary because, the letter that sought to reinstate Rev. Albert Okpoti Botchwey implied the staying off all audit exercise into the administration of Rev. Botchwey. KOSSA, is promising absolute support for any audit exercise that will help expose all forms malfeasance in the hospital and will call for appropriate administrative sanctions to be applied even if any member of KOSSA is deemed to have been involved in these acts of malfeasance. KOSSA will like to reiterate that it is honouring the Ministers request for the one week truce to enable him settle in his new position, the one week ends on Tuesday, 29, July 2014. Anything short of dissolution of the board will not be countenanced by all staff, clients and stakeholders of the Hospital; and please remember we are doing this for the poor patients who have had to seek our services due to no choice of theirs, the people of Ghana as a whole and the judgement of posterity. Thank you. Charles Ofei-Palm KOSSA President
