Veep, Assembly donates to Muslims in Abura Asebu Kwamankese

The Vice President, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur on Saturday donated assorted food items to the Muslim community in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK) District of the Central Region The items include 20 bags of rice, 10 bags of maize and eight cartons of cooking oil and were presented by Mr. William Atta-Mends, District Chief Executive for AAK whilst the assembly also donated 25 bags of rice. Mr. Atta-Mends said the gesture was to show solidarity with the Muslim community who had dedicated themselves to fast and pray for the country during the Ramadan period and wished them a happy celebration on Monday. Alhaji Musa Aliu, a representative of the Abura Dunkwa Imam, who received the items on behalf of the Muslims, expressed gratitude to the Vice president and the District Assembly for the kind gesture. He said the end of the Ramadan was not the end of their prayers for the country. Ramadan is observed in the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and for 30 days, Muslims all over the world abstain from food, drink and other physical needs during the day to pray. It is a time to purify the soul, re-focus attention on Allah and practice self-sacrifice.
