NPP MP: Martin Amidu Has Proven To Be a Good Role Model

The Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Constituency in the Eastern Region has expressed gratitude to Mr. Martin Amidu for exhibiting resilience in his pursuit for justice in the Woyome Judgment Debt Trial. According to Hon. Samuel Aye-Paye, the citizen vigilante has proven to be the ideal role model for every Ghanaian because he believes in a course and has fought for it all the way through. he paid for the facilitation of the case in court all by himself. He had no help from anyone. He did this because of his principles and his conscience and he even went against his own party to save the country this huge amount of money, but he must follow through with the issue until the money is paid. the ruling of the Supreme Court must be followed to the latter or else he must sue again for contempt of court. The money must be retrieved and must be done quickly, he said. Hon. Aye-Paye made this call on the one-time Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Martin Amidu on NEAT FM , after the Supreme Court on Tuesday unanimously ruled that Alfred Agbesi Woyome had no valid contract with the government of Ghana to warrant a $51.2 million judgement debt paid him between 2009 and 2010. The Supreme Court which was made up of an eleven-member panel ruled that the alleged National Democratic Congress financier got the money out of an invalid and unconstitutional contract and further ruled that an amount of $51.2 million paid the Accra-based businessman be returned to the nations coffers. The ruling follows a Judicial Review brought before the court by former Attorney General Martin Amidu against Alfred Agbesi Woyome and the country representative of Isofoton S. A, Anane Agyei Forson, who insisted that Woyome, like Waterville and Isofoton, had no valid contract to be paid any amount by the state in judgement debt.
