Taxi Driver Arrested For Attempting To Sell Friend

A taxi driver has been arrested at Elubo for attempting to sell his bosom friend for GH100,000. Earlier, the suspect, Yaw Daniel, 25, did the ground work by looking for a prospective buyer for his unemployed friend, Joseph Gbeffah, 20, and found one in the person of a spiritualist, also a herbalist, who feigned interest in the deal. The prospective buyer who identified himself only as Nana Obinim agreed to pay the suspect GH100,000 for his friend and informed the police about the arranged transaction. Last Thursday, July 31, 2014, Daniel tricked the unsuspecting Gbeffah to accompany him in his taxi, on a business trip from Enchi to Elubo, where the former had planned to hand over his friend to the buyer. According to the District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr Raymond Kofi Erzuah, Nana Obinim issued a cheque for GH100,000 to Daniel immediately after Gbeffah had been delivered to him. Daniel was arrested when he went to the bank to cash the cheque.
