Fire has razed part of the Coppon Wood Processing Limited, a timber firm at Akyem Oda, destroying property worth $420,000. The destroyed items are a kiln and a large quality of processed wood which was being dried in the kiln. The Human Resource Manager of the company, Mr Baafour Amoako Domenah, conducted journalists round the burnt factory. He said fire service personnel from Akyem Achiase and Kade later joined their counterparts at Oda to help put out the fire. Mr Amoako Domenah said by the time the fire personnel managed to bring the fire under control, the whole kiln and the processed wood in the kiln were burnt to ashes. He gave the assurance that workers at the kiln section would not be retrenched but would be redeployed to other departments to work. When contacted by the Daily Graphic, the Station Officer of the Birim Central Municipal Fire Service, Mr Samuel Dzandu, said it took the fire personnel about two-and-a-half hours to bring the fire under control.
