Final year students of Tanoso Community Health Nurses Training School (CHNTS) have been given motorbike riding training to enhance their services on the field.
The five-day programme, with the approval of the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service, was organized by the School as part of the course and is the first of its kind in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
Mr William A. Abotzabire, the Principal, told the newsmen on Thursday during a training session that the training had become a necessary requirement for community health nurses to equip them to achieve targets.
He explained the motorbike was a primary tool for the work of the Community Health Nurse because it was the suitable and most convenient means of transport for effective and wider community health services delivery.
The Principal said Community Health Nurse�s services were required in remote, under-served and hard to reach communities in the country.
Mr Abotzabire said the training cost of GH�50.00 per student was factored into the fees of the 185 beneficiaries but that was insufficient to meet the total cost of more than GH�10,000.00, so the School had to supplement with additional amount from its internally generated fund (IGF).
