MPs Father In Trouble

The Dwabeso Police are currently looking for a former Chief and the father of the Member of Parliament for Dwabeso, for allegedly trying to divert a huge consignment of state owned fertilizer to Cote DIvoire and Kumasi. Nana Boakye Ababio, alias Mantiador, is the former Chief of a village called Antobia. He is also the father of the MP for Dwabeso, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandor. The police are allegedly looking for him following allegations that he is the primary brain behind a fertilizer diversion scheme in the Western region. In an interview with this newspaper over the issue, however, Hon. Mintah Akandor said that the allegations are monstrously false and are being cooked up by his political opponents to surely use his image and that of his family. He said that he, as well as the District Chief Executive, was responsible for the arrest of the truck carrying the fertilizer. We were at a party program when we heard that a truck was carrying away a large consignment of fertilizer meant for cocoa farmers in the area. We were the ones who caused the arrest of the truck. It is strange that people would now turn round to say that my family has anything to do with this, Akandor said. He said that notwithstanding, he was going to make his father available to the police. I intend to look into this matter to the very bottom, he said. Sources at the police station told the Daily Searchlight that the main suspect is Mantiador and that his principal accomplices are Nana Kwesi Dermieh, former chief of Adwuman and one Kwesi Nkrumah nicknamed Bardecash. Source close to the police say that Mantiabor is alleged to have gotten protocol to be supplied with fertilizer anytime he goes to the district office of CODAPEK, not knowing that he has been sending the fertilizer to Kumasi and Cote DIvoire. The source stated that last week a truck was arrested with a supply of fertilizer meant for cocoa farmers in the Western region being ferried to Kumasi. Some people blew the alarm and the truck was arrested along with the driver, who mentioned his accomplices as Mantiador and the other two persons. Currently Mantiador is on the run but the other three have been remanded. Meanwhile, unconfirmed news indicates that Nana Boakye Ababio, has turned himself in to assist the police in investigating the issue.
