A truck driver has been arrested over alleged attempt to divert 210 bags of fertilizer meant for cocoa farmers. Issah Jabril was caught off-loading the fertilizer at Dichemso in Kumasi on September 10 at about 0700 hours. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ampofo Duku, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, told a press briefing that the owner of the truck, who is believed to have connived with the suspect, is on the run. He said they received information that an articulated truckloaded with a consignment of fertilizers for cocoa farmers in the Brong-Ahafo Region, had diverted course and was off-loading the cargo at Dichemso. He said the suspect has been granted police inquiry as they investigate to get to the bottom of the matter.
