Volta NPP Target Massive Win For Akufo-Addo

Delegates from the Volta Region, on Monday, September 22, resolved to vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo in the October 18 presidential primary, as a clear indication of the change in attitude and voting pattern of the people from the region towards Nana Akufo-Addo, in particular, and the New Patriotic Party, as a whole. In a meeting between Nana Akufo-Addo and the 51 delegates from the region who voted in the August 31 Special Electoral College, the Volta Regional NPP Chairman assured Nana Akufo-Addo to expect a massive swing in the votes that the NPP will garner in the December 2016 election. According to Mr. John Peter Amewu, there was a time in the history of political party activity in the Volta Region, where some residents in the region pelted NPP members and presidential candidates who dared to campaign in the region in the early 1990s with stones and water. This, he said, metamorphosed into the jeering and hooting of any member of the NPP. Over the years, he added that this transformed into a show of indifference by residents who merely folded their arms when the NPP train arrived in the region. However, as we speak today, we have lots of people from the (Volta) region joining the NPP, and, indeed, supporting and contributing financially to the growth of the party in the region. This is the transformation I am talking about and come December 2016, we will surprise many by the votes Nana Akufo-Addo will receive, he stressed. In view of this, former NPP Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North and Volta Regional Co-ordinator of Nana Akufo-Addos campaign, Hon. Joseph Nayan, has told Nana Akufo-Addo that delegates from the region will work hard to ensure a resounding margin of victory for Nana Akufo-Addo from the region. We are expecting nothing less than a massive win for Nana Akufo-Addo. We are confident of securing such a margin of victory because we know the constituency chairmen will support the campaign of Akufo-Addo and send the good message to the grassroots who look up to them as their leaders, Hon. Nayan said. He reminded the constituency chairmen of the fact that you are the kingmakers in this party, you have to power to make or unmake any aspirant in the race. We counted on you for your support on August 31 and you did not let us down. We count on you again for support on October 18. People have seen the direction the party wants to go and you must send an even clearer message to the doubting Thomases that Nana Akufo-Addo is the choice of the delegates. Volta Region is key Hon. Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, who was also present at the meeting reaffirmed the comments expressed by Mr. John Peter Amewu and Hon. Joseph Nayan, explaining that Volta region is key towards NPP winning power in 2016. The desertion of personal interests by delegates and members of the party in order for the partys interest to reign supreme, he indicated, must be the overarching sentiment that must be shared by the leadership of the party, as well as members of the grassroots. After delegates made me a part of the top 5 (following the Special Electoral College), I reflected on the results and I declared my total support for Nana Akufo-Addo. He is the choice of the party, and the reason why I decided to work and make sure that the NPP wins election 2016, and Akufo-Addo becomes the next President of Ghana, Hon. Osei Ameyaw said. The Asuogyaman MP urged the remaining aspirants who believe they have support in the polling station and believe they can cause a stir on October 18 to rethink their strategy. The power to decentralize power to the polling station executives was championed by Nana Akufo-Addo. Polling station executives, just as they did in August 2010, will on October 18, 2014 will send a clear signal to the NDC, who have caused problems in this region, that we are a united force in the region. I came 3rd in this region, and I together with Joe Ghartey are giving all our votes to Nana, he added.
