Court Sets Oct 3 To Rule On NPP Congress

An Accra Fast Track High Court has set October 3, to rule on an application for an injunction on the New Patriotic Partys (NPP) October 18 congress. Two members of the party, Rexford Agyei Frimpong and Oppong Kyekyeku sought an order against the National Council to comply with the provision of the NPP constitution and fix a new date for the congress but an Accra Fast Track High Court adjourned the case indefinitely. The court application follows calls from flagbearer aspirants, Alan Kyerematen and Francis Addai Nimoh that the partys leadership should reconsider the date for the congress. Nana Akufo-Addos camp has in response to the call said that they dont agree with the arguments from the two candidates because according to them, the situation is like a 90 minutes football game, we all have the same time to compete and win. Despite the concerns about the date, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has begun his grass-root based campaign tour after launching his campaign in Accra. Mr. Kyerematen is expected to meet polling station, electoral area coordinators, constituency and regional officers across the country to deliver his message of hope targeted at strengthening the grass-root.
