The Hohoe Police Division Command in the Volta Region has arrested five suspected armed robbers for terrorizing filling station operators within the vicinity. The five, who are expected to be processed for court, include two Nigerians, a Fulani from Niger and a Ghanaian. They are; Njeke Emeka Wellington, 28, Attah Moboroka, 20, Musah Mahamadu, 36, Victor Okechuku and the fifth suspects name has been withheld since he is believed to be mentally unstable. According to Citi FMs Volta Regional correspondent, Gratham Mckintosh, a 58-year-old fuel attendant met his untimely death in the hands of the armed robbers while the station Manager, Emmanuel Asare, 28 sustained various degrees of injuries. The problem has forced most of the filling stations in the area to close by 7 pm. Narrating the incident, Mackintosh said: At 2 am, the armed robbers attacked Glory Oil Palm station near Vakpo in the North district and demanded the keys to the office at the filling station and the personnel could not produce the keys, the robbers hit the station manager in the head with a cement block. He stated that the robbers subsequently ransacked the managers office and made away with 800 cedis. Luck however eluded them when a driver who picked up two of the suspects about 300 meters from the crime scene handed them over to the Police when he suspected they were robbers. By 5am the same day, two more were arrested around Vakpo Anyetta through Police intelligence and the cooperation of the people in the area, he added.
