Two persons who allegedly took advantage of a fire out break at the bungalow of the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly�s Deputy Coordinating Director to loot some valuables were on Tuesday granted bail by a Cape Coast Circuit Court. Kwame Amponsah, 37 and Frank Opoku, 36, were granted bail in the sum of GH�20,000 each with two sureties. The items allegedly stolen, worth GH�7,289 included three panel doors valued at GH�570.00, Towel rail costing GH�50.00, Tap Handle worth GH�45.00, Hand Wash Basin worth GH�150, and a FirstAid Box valued at GH�20.00. The others were 250 pieces of Louvre Blades worth GH�3,150.00, 72 pairs of Louvre Frames valued at GH�1,820 and four welded mesh costing GH�120.00. Both accused persons pleaded not guilty to unlawful entry and stealing and would re appear before the court on Wednesday October 7. Police Chief Inspector Peter Paul Amoah, who prosecuted, told the court presided over by Ms. Audrey Kocuvie-Tay that the complainant, Ms. Adjoa Amofa is the Deputy Coordinating Director of the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly, while Amponsah is a security man and Opoku, a surveyor, both at the Geological Survey Department of the Assembly. He said on Monday, March 3, this year at around 01:00 Hrs, fire gutted part of Ms. Amofa�s bungalow which led to her relocation and that in April, the accused persons took advantage of the situation and broke into the premises to steal the items.
