Tema Police Arrest Two Robbers

The Tema Police Command has arrested two armed robbers believed to be part of a syndicate known for terrorizing residents of Dawhenya and its environs. Eric Boafo, a 25-year-old taxi driver and Emmanuel Kobena, 23, labourer, were arrested at about 0130 hours on October 9 in the Dawhenya township, after robbing Mr Kofi Yabemeh, a level 300 student of the Central University College. A statement from the Command indicated that on Oct 8, at about 2120 hours, Mr Yabemeh and a friend boarded a Toyota Corolla taxi cab which had two other passengers on board from Dawhenya to Miotso. The victim, whose friend alighted earlier, was threatened with a knife by the other two other passengers who asked him to surrender everything on him to them. The robbers succeeded in robbing Mr Yabemeh of his two mobile phones, assorted provisions,, his shoes and an amount of GHC 150. In their bid to ensure that they had taken everything from their victim, the robbers torn his pair of trousers into shreds and abandoned him in the middle of the road and sped off. The statement said the Prampram Police Patrol team was dispatched to the scene upon receiving information about the incident, and a search was mounted for them. The team spotted the taxi at Dawhenya and the driver and one of the passengers who attacked the victim were arrested after four hours of intensive search. With the exception of the money, which was said to be with the other robber, all the other stolen items were retrieved. The Command said the robbers are part of a syndicate which has been robbing residents in and around Dawhenya and Prampram, as well as terrorizing students at the University.
