Pont Interviewed For Black Stars Job

The interview panel of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) yesterday began the final phase of the search for a new Black Stars coach when it engaged Frenchman Michel Pont. The panel members, consisting Fred Pappoe, George Afriyie, Ben Koufie, and Fred Crentsil, took Pont through a grilling session concerning his background and readiness to take up the Stars job. Afriyie later confirmed to the Daily Graphic at the Alisa Hotel, where the interview was held, that the panel had indeed interviewed one of the applicants. However, both Afriyie and Crentsil were tight-lipped on what actually transpired during the interview but only stated that they had interviewed one of the coaches. 'You know I can't tell you anything now but all I can say is that we just finished with the first person and we are expected to interview the others tomorrow," he said. Pont, one of the three coaches shortlisted for the Stars job is competing against former Chelsea boss, Avram Grant and Juan Ignacio Martinez.
