Grant Or Pont? Black StarsTo Get New Coach On Monday

The Ghana Football Association will announce a new coach for the national football team,the Black Stars today. The GFA interviewed three applicants for the job over a two day period to bring to a close a process that has gone embarrassingly bad for the association. Hot favourite Patrick Kluivert withdrew after it emerged he had interests elsewhere whilst his replacement Bernd Schuster claimed he did not apply for the job. Michel Pont, the former Switzerland coach faced the panel on Friday before they reconvened on Saturday to grill the remaining two coaches Juan Ignacio Jiminez from Spain and former Chelsea boss Avram Grant. Ignacio was the first to face the panel that included GFA vice president Fred Crentsil, emergency committee member George Afriyie, acting general secretary Emmanuel Gyimah and Ben Koufie who is a member of the GFA technical committee Former Chelsea boss Grant took his turn afterwards to sell his vision to the GFA. The combined session lasted around four hours. Allsports.com.gh understands that former Chelsea boss Avram Grant is favourite to land the job after impressing the members of the committee with his knowledge and plans for the development of the national team.
