Professor Clement K. Dzidonu, President, Accra Institute of Technology (AIT) has advised students to put every ounce of energy into their education. He said as students, they must set higher academic standards and live up to them to achieve educational success in life. �Never give up on your academics, when the experience becomes difficult, dig in and figure out what difficulty you are facing as that will help you find ways to achieve your educational success,� Prof Dzidonu stated in Accra on Friday at the AIT 2014 matriculation and seventh graduation ceremony. Prof Dzidonu, however, noted that it was expectant of fresh students of AIT to work hard and perform well as their colleagues in other universities. �In this environment, you will have enormous opportunities to deepen your education that will expand your understanding of society and the world. �That will help you to acquire the necessary academic and professional skills which will launch your career," he added. Dr Benjamin Aggrey Ntim, a Former Minister of Communications and Associate Dean of Innovation and Industrial Partnerships, AIT, urged students to take their education seriously. He advised them to analyse and understand subjects taught, choose friends wisely, interact with lecturers and facilitators, and also be careful when they interacted with individuals outside the University. Professor Francis K. Allotey, Chairman, AIT Board of Trustees, encouraged freshmen to set high standards for themselves, strive to understand lessons, avoid procrastination, and above all, avoid cheating. The institution admitted a total number of 935 undergraduate students for the January and September 2014 admissions. Out of the number, 584 are foreign students with the remaining 351 being local students who would be reading various degree programmes like Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science; BSc in Information Technology; as well as BSc in Administration. Other students registered for the certificate of Technology (CTech) and Diploma of Technology (DTech) in various fields also matriculated. The 2014 graduation class on the other hand, saw a total of 201 students graduating with 80 obtaining Master�s Degree, 44 DTech and 77 being awarded with CTech certificates with the best all round student award being received by Mr Oladimeji Toheeb Ayoyemi. Other special awards were given to Mr Ekwere Convenant Anthony as Best CTech Graduating student and Mr Oladmeji Toheeb Ayoyemi as the best DTech graduating student respectively.
