Five Arrested For Breaking Into Factory

Five persons who allegedly conspired to break into a Chinese bag factory at Odorkor Busia in Accra to steal 48 travelling bags worth GH�5,000 have been arrested. One other suspect, identified as Ekow Kakalika, is at large. The suspects are Ebenezer Owusu, 25, driver; Peter Atsu, 28, mason; Amos Amankuna, 23, carpenter; Simpson Richard, 30, driver, and Emmanuel Obuobi, 28, filling station attendant. Interrogation Based on intelligence, Owusu, who resided directly opposite the factory, was arrested. According to the police, upon interrogation, he admitted his involvement in the crime and led the police to arrest the other four suspects. Briefing the media, the Deputy Accra Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr Timothy Yoosa Bonga, said seven out of the 48 bags stolen were recovered after a search was conducted in their houses. He explained that the incident occurred on October 18, 2014 when the five conspired to engage in the burglary. Mr Bonga said the suspects gained entry into the warehouse by cutting the wire fencing, after which they broke into it to steal the bags. The commander indicated that efforts were being made to apprehend their accomplice.
