My Son Called Me A Responsible Mum After I Cooked For Him - Ursula

Ablekuma West MP, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, has revealed that her 17-year-old son saw it as an event when she finally made time to cook for the family. The legislator speaking at a forum organised by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) on women empowerment said the son exclaimed when he saw her at the kitchen because it was a long time she was there. "You are now acting like a mother, he said, I asked why and he said it is a long time you have been here...," she narrated. She continued that she was embarrassed by the comment of the boy since it showed how she has abandoned her domestic role as a mother. "As for today, I would enjoy the meal papa...," the boy told her again. Despite admitting that comment drew her attention to how she has abandoned her basic responsibilities, she said her continual hanging out for late caused that neglect. According to her, that was part of the cost she paid for being a public advocacy campaigner for twelve years now. She further called on women in public positions to learn to strike a balance between their domestic roles and public duty. Mrs Ekuful said that is necessary if women are to keep their relationships.
