Fugitive Arrested After Four Years

A man, who has been on the run for four years after he allegedly murdered the wife at Amadum-Adankwame in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District, has been arrested to face justice. Kwabena Gyamfi, alias Ogyam, driven by sheer jealousy, reportedly shot and killed, the spouse, accusing her of infidelity. Police Chief Superintendent Kweku Buah, the Divisional Commander, at a news briefing said the incident happened on August 1, 2010. The deceased, Linda Osei, alias Maa Abena, had attended a funeral, where he was found by the husband dancing with another man so he vowed not to forgive her, he said. Gyamfi reportedly ran straight to the house, picked his shot gun, loaded it with bullets and shot her twice in the thigh and the back. He escaped to neighbouring La Cote d Ivoire, where he lived for some time and later slipped back into the country, Chief Superintendent Buah said. He was arrested at Anwiankwanta in the Bekwai Municipality on November 6, following a tip off and has already confessed to the crime. Chief Supt Buah said he would soon be arraigned.
