SADA Supports Farmers Day With 69 Corn Shellers

The Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) has donated 69 corn- shellers to the five Regional Directorates of Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) in SADA�s operational zone. The donation was also in support of this year�s National Farmers Day celebration. A board member of SADA, Suley Adam, who presented the items on Friday to the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru, for onward presentation to the Department of Agriculture said the donation was part of SADA�s efforts to reduce post-harvest losses. Mr. Adam hinted that the corn-shellers were produced in the Tamale Metropolis, saying �The interesting part of the supply of these corn shellers is the fact that they are being produced locally in fulfillment of the objective of promoting local businesses�. He stated SADA, had since last year, supplied farmers in the savannah ecologically zone with more than 270 tractors and assured that the new SADA Board would work assiduously to realise its objectives. Alhaji Muniru, commended the SADA Board for the gesture and said the equipment would not only reduce post-harvest losses but would help reduce poverty among farmers in the areas. Alhaji Mohammed M Ahmed, Chief Executive of Implement Factory, manufacturers of corn-sellers, commended SADA Board for supporting the locally artisans.
