Former NPP Chair Elected Vice Chairperson of International Democrat Union (IDU)

Former Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Mac Manu has been elected as the Vice Chairman of the International Democrat union (IDU) at a Party Leaders Meeting (PLM) in Seoul, Korea In an interview with Peacefmonline.com,Davis Opoku Ansah, the Executive Assistant to the General Secretary of the NPP, Ghana�s democratic credentials were boosted in Seoul when the sitting Chairman of the Democratic Union of Africa (DUA), Peter Mac Manu chosen among many contestants, to the position the Vice Chairman of IDU. ��Peter Mac Manu was elected as the Vice Chairman of the IDU. Already, he serves as the Chairman for the Democratic Union of Africa (DUA). So he was elected at the Party Leaders Meeting (PLM) in Korea,� he said. The NPP delegation was headed by Nana Akufo-Addo, who, according to Mr. Ansah is well-regarded around the World as an inspiring leader who can help elevate the standard of living of the people of Ghana. �..Nana Addo delivered a speech which centered on strengthening freedom and democracy in Africa, not only Ghana. He talked about the Supreme Court ruling and how it is helping shape the democracy of our country. He also talked about new technologies that could help eliminate the age old problem of fraud in the electoral system, in many parts of the World. �Nana Addo spoke of Ghana�s acclaimed ranking in the freedom of the Press in the World and the fact that the NPP is credited for this feat. He stated the fact that the NPP came to power in 2001 and quickly repealed the Criminal Libel Law, which inhibited the press for many years from doing its work,� Davis Opoku Ansah said. . On the whole, the Executive Assistant to the General Secretary of the NPP is of the conviction that the meeting was very fruitful to the leadership of the biggest opposition party in Ghana, while �its (NPP) representation was seen as a serious party ready to learn from the meeting�. The NPP entourage also included the Chairman, Paul Afoko; General Secretary, Kwabena Adjei Agyapong; Hon. Adjoa Sarfo, Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya and other leading members of the party in the person of Charles Owiredu and Francis Asenso, who is a Personal Aide to the NPP Presidential candidate.
