Mr Kofi Manu, director of operations of Medeama FC, has apologised to the Justice Dzamefe Presidential Commission of Inquiry over allegations he made against a member of the commission, Mr Kofi Anokye Owusu Darko. Mr Manu, who appeared before the commission last Friday after he and Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah were subpoenaed by the commission to substantiate allegations they made on Happy FM, an Accra- based radio station last week, told the Graphic Sports yesterday that if his comments about Mr Anokye Owusu Darko had maligned or brought the name of the commission into disrepute then he had apologised. �I did not intend to malign or drag the commission into the mud but if it is deemed that my comments on Happy fm last week had maligned or dented the image of the commission then I apologise�, he said. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Ghana Weightlifting Association, Ben Nunoo Mensah, who was also cited, dsecribed as unfortunate the allegations made by Mr Manu about a member of the commission during the radio discussion, saying �We were only having an intellecutal debate which had nothing to do with the Justice Dzamefe commission of Inquiry and so it is unfortunate that Kofi Manu suddenly roped in all of these when I was only making reference to the then Public Interest Committee (PIC) which had Mr Ade Coker, myself and other sports loving people on it�. It would be recalled that the Presidential Commission of Inquiry investigating the Black Stars ignoble campaign at the last World Cup in Brazil last week formally extended an invitation to the two sports personalities to appear before it within four days from Wednesday, December 17, 2014 to Saturday, December 20, 2014. This was after it established that Messrs Nunoo Mensah and Kofi Manu had alleged that Mr Anokye was part of a group that had plotted to unseat Kwesi Nyantakyi, president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in 2009. They were also alleged to have stated that Mr Anokye was among the conspirators, who through a grand design, sought to unsettle the various sports associations under the then National Sports Council. A statement by the commission, however, described the allegations as false, pointing out that �The assertions constituted patent and veritable acts of contempt which warranted immediate investigation.�
