Dangerous Power-Play Within... NPP Akufo-Addo Poisoned?

The political future and health conditions of the 2016 flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is taking a dramatic twist as latest information reaching The aL-hAJJ reveals that close associates of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are suspecting he has been poisoned. Sources in United Kingdom, where Nana Akufo Addo underwent medical review, have disclosed to this paper that though his doctors are attributing his health condition to advancing age, the NPP 2016 flag bearers handlers are said to be speculating among themselves that Nana Akufo Addos opponents within the party have succeeded in doing-him in, so as to pave the way for them to succeed him as the flagbearer of the main opposition party. Sources close to the twice-defeated presidential candidate noted that while some of his lieutenants are speculating he has been poisoned, others think those seeking to thwart his effort of becoming president may have resorted to the use of black magic (juju) as his situation continue to be complicated and defying comprehension. But reports are that Nana Akufo Addos close associates, mainly politicians and technocrats from the Akyem Abuakwa Kingdom, are highly convinced he will achieve his childhood dream of becoming president of Ghana come 2016 no matter the machinations from his opponents. They are however said to be pointing accusing fingers at his adversaries within and outside the NPP, of resorting to the use of unorthodox political tactics to get rid of Nana Akufo-Addo as a way of preventing him from contesting the next presidential election. Although spokespersons of Nana Akufo-Addo have denied he travelled to the United Kingdom (UK) for medical attention, party insiders alleged that his hurriedly arranged trip to the UK followed a renewed medical complications he suffered shortly after delivering the second Aliu Mahama lectures. Our sources in the UK say though Nana Akufo-Addo had wanted to return to Ghana before the New Year, his doctors prevailed on him to stay for thorough medical observation. The doctors also advised him to observe a political hiatus and stay in the UK for a further month until things normalize. But Nana Akufo-Addo, according to our sources, shrugged off that suggestion, insisting his continued stay in the UK could have serious implications for his party back at home and that, he has an able medical team in Ghana to take care of any exigency. According to reliable sources, the former Abuakwa South Member of Parliament and former foreign minister under the Kufuor regime, barring any last minute change of scheduled is expected to arrive in the country today to continue with his political crusade to unseat the post independent born President John Dramani Mahama, albeit not with his usual abrasive and belligerent posturing. But, many of his party supporters and admirers are reported not enthused with Nana Akufo-Addos present medical challenges as there are rumors that aside the lost in weight and energy, the complications have also affected his throat, making him lose his globally admired oratorical skills and mastery of the Queenss language. The latest accusation of poisoning and use of black magic on Nana Akufo-Addo comes on the heels of a similar claim by Nana Addos strong ally, Kennedy Ohene Agyepong that two NPP stalwarts were scheming to poison the 2016 flag bearer. The abusive Assin Central Member of Parliament last year accused former Chief of Staff in the Kufuor administration, Kwadwo Mpiani, and former Health Minister, Dr Richard Anane of plotting to have Nana Akufo-Addo poisoned to deny him a third attempt at the presidency. Both have since vehemently denied the charge and have threatened to sue him. It is not yet clear to this paper if the NPP flag bearers predicament is in any way connected to recent prophecy by General Overseer of Glorious Word Power Ministry International, Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah, that a big funeral would rock the NPP which will open a way for a new flag bearer election. Delivering a sermon during the watch night service on December 31, 2014, Rev Owusu Bempah, who is noted for doom prophecies, forecast among other things that the NPP is likely to lose the 2016 election, adding that If NPP does not take care they will get a great funeral which will open a way for a new flag bearer election. In a related development, the Founder and Leader of the Church of Rabbi, Odifour Kwabena Tawiah have also opined that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is likely to lose the 2016 general elections with Akufo Addo as its candidate. Prophet Tawiah, whose prophecies for the last twenty-eight years have all been fulfilled, emphasized Akufo-Addo could never be president. He gave the prophecy on the 31st watch night service at church's headquarters in Accra.
