Lovers In Custody Over Murder Of Rivals

The Tema Development Corporation (TDC) District Magistrate Court, presided over by Mr. Isaac Adjei on Monday remanded two lovers into custody, in connection with the murder of a Tema based structural engineer, Nana Kwaku Dua, 46. The lovers are Confidence Feneku and Peter Mawuko. Independent investigation conducted by The Chronicle revealed that the engineer who recently completed the construction of storage tanks for Wilmar Africa near the Tema port on the 13th of December, 2014, at about 12 noon picked Confidence from her home at Bethlehem, a suburb of the industrial city in his Navara pick-up, with registration GN 6633-13, driven by his personal driver. The Chronicle established that, after doing some rounds to some project sites, the engineer took over the vehicle from his driver at the end of the Tema motorway roundabout, with the lady in question. Further investigations revealed that Nana Kwaku Dua finally sent Confidence back to her house at about 7pm and after parking, the two stayed in the vehicle for about 30 minutes before the lady stepped out. After the engineer moved the vehicle a few yards away from the ladys house, two men on a motorbike crossed his vehicle and stopped him. One of the bikers reportedly pulled a gun and ordered him to get down, which he complied. The victim was asked to lie flat on the ground and he was reportedly heard asking them what they wanted, and that if it was money he was prepared to give them, but the gangsters only repeated the earlier instruction. The Chronicle gathered that a scuffle ensued between the bandits and Kwaku Dua, who regularly trained at the Geodan Health and Fitness Club at motorway roundabout and had built a lot of muscles. Nana, as he is affectionately called, The Chronicle was informed, managed to free himself from the gunmen after which he took to his heels, but as he attempted entering his Navara pick-up to escape, the bandits fired on his left leg which was then Hanging outside the vehicle. He reportedly drove to the Tema General Hospital whilst still bleeding profusely, where doctors on duty managed to stop the blood flow. He was administered to several pints of blood but on Sunday, his condition became worse and had to be rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where he died on Monday December 15, 2014. Police investigations led to the arrest of Confidence Feneku, who according to available information was dating one Peter Mawuko. The Chronicles enquiries revealed that Mawuko had earlier gone to see the parents of Confidence with customary drinks with the view to marrying her. However, the ladys father was not satisfied with the manner his daughter was conducting herself with regard to her numerous relations with men. This, the Chronicle gathered, brought about a rift between her and the father. Her father, unable to control the said embarrassments, reportedly sent a message to Peter Mawuko to come back for his drinks. The lady and the boyfriend were not on talking terms and so it was her sister who allegedly informed her of their fathers message to the boyfriend. It is alleged that Confidence allegedly rebuked the boyfriend through text messages for consenting to her fathers bad reaction to their relationship. The Chronicle is reliably informed that the ladys mobile phone, which was taken over by the police at Golf City station, is reportedly missing. Based on this, Confidence Feneku and Peter Mawuko were apprehended by the Tema Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police to assist with on-going investigations into the murder of the structural engineer. At the TDC District Magistrate Court, on Monday, two lawyers, Diamond Nyamakor, aka Denkyembour, and Dina Asunaba Dapaah, represented Peter and Confidence respectively. Lawyer Diamond, in his argument noted that the charge of abetment, which the police preferred against his client cannot hold. According to him, there is so much evidence from the ladys father that, she was going out with other men apart from his client, who had gone to show his intent to marry her. The case has been adjourned to Thursday 8th of January, 2015. Meanwhile, police say they have spread wide their investigation net to nab the killers.
