PPP Opens Nominations For National Positions

The Progressive People�s Party (PPP) has opened nominations for national officer positions. In a statement issued in Accra and signed by the party�s Chairman of National Elections Committee, De-Roy Kwesi Andrew, it revealed that nominations for election into national positions started January 06, 2015 and was expected to end February 6, 2015. According to the statement, interested persons must pick nomination forms, complete and submit them to the party�s head office in Accra within the stipulated period. �Available positions to be contested are National Chairman, three Vice Chairpersons, National Secretary and National Treasurer,� the statement disclosed. It went on to state that �nomination forms can be acquired at a cost of GHC200 from the party head office in Asylum Down, Accra payable by cheque in the name of the Progressive People�s Party.� �Filling fees shall be GHC 5,000 for the Position of the National Chairman, GHC 2,000 for any of the 3 vice chairperson positions and GHC 3,000 for the positions of the National Secretary and National Treasurer. Any female aspirant for any of the positions shall pay 50% of the approved filing fees.� The statement further advised candidates to ensure that their nomination forms were endorsed by at least a member from each of the ten regions in Ghana before submission. Meanwhile the party�s National Committee has directed all constituencies that have finished their constituency elections to pick up printed copies of nomination forms from their regional offices and open nomination for parliamentary candidate elections with immediate effect. �Guidelines for the conduct of parliamentary primaries have been communicated to the regional and constituency executives across the country.
