Former President John Agyekum Kufuor will today attend a dinner dance which will be held by the Women Empowerment Foundation International (WEFI) at the Accra International Conference Centre to climax the 5thanniversary of the body. The event will be chaired by Nana Opare Kwafo I, Mawerehene of Akuapem. Several dignitaries, including the General Overseer of the Fountain Gate Ministries, Rev Eastwood Anaba are expected to attend the event. WEFI, a benevolent organisation made up business women andprofessionals, has been in existence for five years during which time it provided boreholes to some communities in deprived areas like Otoase in the Ayensuano District, as well as Nsawam. It has also provided a building for the Ridge Police in Accra and adopted the childrens wards of the Korle Bu and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospitals in Accra and Kumasi respectively. The organisation has also given scholarships to 120 brilliant but needy students, some of whom are currently in the universities and Senior High Schools (SHS). The main aim of the organisation is to support, mentor and provide development and economic empowerment opportunities for orphans, the needy and vulnerable in the society. The celebration started with a float on Thursday and will be climaxed with the dinner dance where some of the guests would address members of the group.
