Current Minority Not Proactive Enough To Wrestle Power Like 1997 To 2000 Minority

A Private Legal Practitioner, Lawyer Nana Kyei Baffour Awuah has indicated that the government with its Majority in Parliament will continue to have their way with their decisions and policy against the interest of Ghanaians because of the inactive of the leadership of the Minority. According to him, the Minority in Parliament in 1997 to 2000 was very well organized as they were proactive enough to quickly come out with alternative solutions and budget proposals whenever the government presented its budget statement. Speaking On Okay FMs "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, Lawyer Kyei Baffour reminded Ghanaians that the likes of Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku provided alternative budget on Finance and Albert Kan Dapaah convinced Ghanaians that the opposition was ready for power. He maintained that J.H Mensah and the late Hawa Yakubu softened the road of victory for the NPP in 2001 when they kept the then NDC government on its toes to provide the needs of Ghanaians. The past Minority in Parliament was more proactive and very well organized to wrestle power for the opposition NPP but the same cannot be said about the current NPP Minority. Everybody knew that when it comes to Finance in Parliament, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku was on top to come out with an alternative budget whenever the government read the budget for the year, he stated. To him, the current Minority lack the organizational skill as it is not about competence of the Members of Parliament but rather the leader of the Minority who has no strategy to rally the support of Ghanaians in the course of effecting changes in the country. Once a while the Minority organizes press conference, but I dont know what the motive is because if it is for the citizens to rise up against the government then it is not being done properly; after the press conference everything stays in Accra without touching the masses in the hinterlands and so all their press conference has yielded no result...you need more proactive Minority that will engage the citizens more to effect change of government if they desire to come to power again, he advised. He however said that the Minority should not only have alleged that the government has inflated the cost of the Kasoa and Circle Interchanges but should have come out with the possible cost of the constructions from the perspective of a road surveyor.
