Priest Calls For End To Political Divisions

The Rt Rev Prof Osei Safo Kantanka, the Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, has urged Ghanaians to overcome political division and stand together to bring socio-economic progress to the nation. He said everybody must have a place and an important contribution to make to the national development effort and added that it should not be difficult for the government to work with people with the expertise in the opposition political parties. This should be the way forward to confront challenges facing the nation and make things better for the people, he said when he inaugurated the Achiase Circuit of the Methodist Church at Achiase in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality. The event, which drew a huge gathering, saw the induction of its first Superintendent Minister, the Very Rev Ebenezer Agyeman-Badu. The Methodist Bishop told the congregation to remain steadfast in their faith and to be hopeful about the future because God was on their side. He appealed to the Circuit Minister to be open, transparent and accountable as by so doing that the church would be sustained on the path of growth. A former Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr Akwasi Osei Adjei, appealed to the people to actively participate in the coming district level elections, saying that was necessary to strengthen the local governance system. He said they should elect only competent, hard working and dedicated people to the municipal assembly and the unit committees and appealed to them to support their elected leaders to enable them to live up to expectation.
