AFCON 2015: Qualifying From Group Stage Is Possible But Not Likely - K Baah Nuako

Former International Relations Manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kwame Baah Nuako believes the performance of the Black Stars against the Teranga Lions of Senegal in their open Group C match in the ongoing African Cup of Nations makes it unlikely for Ghana to qualify to the next stage of the competition. The Black Stars of Ghana yesterday were beaten by two goals to one in their open Group C match in the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea. Commenting on the performance of the Black Stars on Oman FMs Morning Show, Kwame Baah Nuako underscored that the performance of the Black Stars has not reached the confidence level of Ghanaians, although the expectation of the country from the players is low in this tournament. According to him, the current Black Stars squad is not one of the best to represent the country in a competition in the last 5 years as the team is full of inexperience with a lot of the players who have not had regular playing time at their respective football clubs. I look at the personnel and I see inexperience and a lot of them are also not playing at the highest level even at the Club side. Im thinking that if you compare a team like Algeria, currently the number one in Africa and the quality of players they have and the fact that most of their players have regular playing time, I dont believe that this is the best Black Stars squad we have sent to any tournament in recent times, he asserted. To him the performance doesnt mean that the current Black Stars might not be the best team but he quickly intimated whether the players are the best for the coach to select from and their preparedness to live up to the task of the tournament. After our performance with Senegal, I have my doubt whether we can go far. It was good that our expectation in the tournament was low because people have lost confidence in the team. Though we couldnt win against Senegal, it doesnt mean we cannot win against Algeria; football is full of surprises...do we have the men to play Algeria and win? Probably a draw against Algeria, I think we can do it but to win against them, I have my doubt a bit because I didnt see enough quality in the Black Stars in their match...qualifying from this group stage is possible but it is not likely, he narrated. The possibility is if we win one match and draws another, it is possible to qualify but is it very likely? South Africans are a bit inexperience and so their inexperience will come back to harm them, he added.
