Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi has pointed out that every strategy will be employed to ensure the Black Stars advance to the finals of this year’s nations Cup.
The Black Stars, apart from 2010 when they reached the final in Angola, have failed in succession to go past the semi final stage of the prestigious competition.
But Nyantakyi, at a press conference at the team’s hotel (Sofitel Presidential), noted that a proper diagnosis regarding what has accounted for the semi final jinx has been conducted and would be addressed – be it psychological or spiritual.
“We will fight the semi final problem from all angles, be it psychological or spiritual. If we qualify for the finals, why not? I will be encouraged as a person.
“We are aware that they are the hosts and factors like crowd will go in their favour. Our players are aware of these factors and have psyched themselves for the task ahead.”
The CAF Executive Committee member also ruled out the possibility of biased officiating in tomorrow’s Ghana-Equatorial Guinea semi final game saying, “I know two of the tournament’s best referees would be handling our game, so there should be no fear of biased officiating.
The fact that the referee who handled the Tunisia- Equatorial Guinea game has been sent home is a strong indication that CAF is on the ground; and don’t forget CAF has not asked any referee to cheat or favor any country.”
The FA chief described Israeli trainer Avram Grant’s performance so far as impressive and aptly fits the ‘Go and do well’ mandate his outfit gave the coach ahead of the tourney.
