Government's Solar Initiative Receives Applauds

The government has announced new initiatives on solar energy that will result in the setting up of 200,000 rooftop solar systems this year.

Though this has been welcomed to help in addressing the energy crisis, some people have raised questions about the suitability of the equipment imported for our environment.

One of such people is the Deputy Director General of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, Professor Kwame Aboh.

Speaking with Radio Ghana he said Dr Nkrumah had solar in mind when he established the nuclear reactor.

At that time he suggested the setting up of an institute to investigate suitable equipment for the country's climate.

But that institute was never to see the light of day due to his overthrow.
