Tex Styles Ghana Limited (TSG) today, opens an eight million Ghana cedis Waste Water Treatment Plant at its Tema factory, bolstering the company’s ongoing commitment to good corporate citizenship in Ghana.

Today commences the first phase of the project, which will treat waste water using biological, Ultra Filtration and Reverse Osmosis processes, making it safe for re-use and allowing TSG to recycle 40 percent of all waste water generated by the factory. In addition to reducing demand on the already-strained resources of the Ghana Water Company, the plant will cut down the amount of waste discharged into the drains, lessening pollution in the country.  Also, more fresh water will be available to the community as the factory will be requiring less water from Ghana Water Company and relying increasingly on its own recycled water.

TSG, manufacturer of the GTP and Woodin range of African prints, is a subsidiary of Vlisco Group, the global leader in fashion brands with an African heritage. As one of the largest tax payers in Ghana, the company contributes immensely to employment, health delivery, social support and environmental education across the nation.

The CEO of Vlisco Group, Mr. Hans Ouwendijk, who is in Ghana to attend the plant’s inauguration said: “This plant will not only be socially beneficial by making more water available to the community but it will also help to meet the standards spelt out by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and therefore have a positive impact on our environment.”
