Farmer Jailed 16 Years For Defiling Six Year Old Girl

A famer, Ibrahim Abdual Razak, 24, was on Tuesday sentenced to 16 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a six year-old girl by the Tarkwa Circuit Court.

He pleaded not guilty.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided by Mr. Justice Obeng Asante that the complainant, Janet Gyetuah, who is unemployed and mother of the victim, reside in the same vicinity with the accused who is popularly known as Shifo at Asompa, a suburb of Prestea.

He said at about 1300 hours on 6 May, last year, the accused went to a drinking bar close to the complainant’s house to buy a drink.

Chief Inspector Paddy said while the accused was at the drinking bar, he saw the victim and two other children, between the ages of five and four- year-old playing around the bar.

He said the victim and his colleagues followed the convict to his house which was about 800 meters away from their house.

Chief Inspector Paddy said the accused then gave 1.00 Ghana cedis to the victim’s colleagues and asked them to leave his premises and he kept the victim in his room.

The Prosecutor said later that day, a witness in the case traced the victim to Ibrahim’s room and saw him having sexual intercourse with the victim in a long chair.

Chief Inspector Paddy said the witness informed the complainant and they arrested the accused and handed him over to the police and after the complainant had made a report to the police, she was issued with a police medical form to send the victim to the hospital for examination and report.

Dr. Agnes Asare of the Tarkwa Municipal hospital, who examined the victim, confirmed that she has been defiled.

Chief Inspector Paddy said in his caution statement, the accused admitted that the victim was found in his room but denied he had sexual intercourse with the victim.

He said the accused was, however, put before the Prestea Magistrate Court where he was remanded into police custody to assist investigation.
