Independent Presidential Candidate in the 2012 presidential election, Jacob Osei Yeboah says President Mahama’s “dead goat syndrome” comment does not mean he will not be hoodwinked by workers, but rather shows how frustrated he has become.
Ghana is facing a myriad of challenges on all fronts, from economic to socio-political. Perhaps the greatest challenge is ensuring a regular and adequate supply of electricity to power industry and households.
But the president, on a recent visit to Botswana, told Ghanaians resident there that workers in Ghana, as part of a strategy, embark on strikes and demonstrations especially in the election year to force the hand of government to increase salaries.
Such increases have mostly affected the country's economy in the past, the president indicated.
Likening the situation to what he called "dead-goat syndrome", the President said he would not be swayed by such strikes to change his management style.
Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Wednesday, the former presidential candidate, also known as Joy 2012 indicated that the president may have been speaking out of frustration at the failure of his policies.
“Mahama himself knows nothing is going on well in the country which to me means he is frustrated and depressed. Instead of the president looking at the way forward to grow the economy, he is rather playing politics and destroying the nation with such comments” he insisted.
Mr. Osei Yeboah urged Ghanaians to pray for the president for making such “suicidal” comments.
