Last year, Miss Carly Joe-Louis was crowned face of GIJ amidst a very tough competition with nine other ladies. Now the question on all GIJ students’ minds is who succeeds her as Face of GIJ 2015?
And to start the process of who to take over from her, 26 beautiful, smart, eloquent and intelligent ladies from the school auditioned to get a spot on the final list of contestants to vie for the enviable Face of GIJ crown.
In a bid to make the selection list, the ladies made speeches, exhibited their talents, catwalked among others to convince the judges they have what it takes to be the next queen.
In addition to these, judges, Jay Foley of 4syte TV and YFM, Miss Belvy Ofori, Miss Tourism 2014 and Miss Iris Naa Amoa Kwafo-Mensah, Women’s Commissioner of NUGS, drilled the ladies with mind-blowing questions to ascertain their level of intelligence and how fast they could think.
Most of the ladies tried as much as possible to give appropriate answers, however, others proved they didn’t deserve to be part of the final list. They fumbled with almost every question asked them and even though the judges tried to give them other chances to redeem their image, it was to no avail.
Interestingly, some of the ladies didn’t even know their school motto not to even talk of their current SRC executives whom they themselves voted for and this got some people thinking, “Are they really students of the school?”
While waiting for the judges to compile their results, there were performances from some of the students who also wanted to exhibit their talents. Ranging from singing to rap, dance and rib-cracking jokes.
At the end of it all, 15 ladies were selected to compete for the Face of GIJ crown scheduled for Friday, April 17. Prior to the main event, the ladies will be taken through sessions of grooming which include catwalk, talent, speech delivery, public speaking, dress rehearsals, walking in heels and other activities.
The Face of GIJ pageant seeks to crown a lady who can represent the image of the school by promoting excellence in communication whiles enhancing beauty with brains.
