Woyome's Acquittal: It's A Whole Scam Deliberately Decided To Be Lost - Atik

A Policy Analyst of the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed has lambasted the Attorney General Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong for not putting in much effort to retrieve the judgment debt from businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome.

Alfred Agbesi Woyome was acquitted and discharged by the High Court after the State Attorney could not prosecute some key alleged facilitators of the judgment debt which was paid to him.

Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu, a former State Attorney, has since been a prime suspect, to most people, in the criminal case.

Following the court ruling, several critics and political figures have expressed utter disappointment in the State Attorney for letting Mr. Woyome off the hook.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Atik Mohammed believed Woyome's acquittal was a deliberate calculation by the State Attorney to free him and allow him to "enjoy his judgment debt."

To him, the whole Woyome judgment debt case in court was nothing but "a whole scam that was very well thought through…It is a case that was deliberately decided to be lost and indeed they succeeded in losing.”

He explained that if Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong wanted to nail him and retrieve the Ghc51 million sum paid to him; she would have subpoenaed Betty Mould Iddrisu before the court.

Her inability to send Betty Mould to court as a "culprit" in the case betrays her commitment to retrieving the money for the State.

He was worried that the Attorney General failed to apply some kind of pressure to have arraigned Betty Mould in court.

If she wouldn’t appear in court as a witness, you should have sent her there as a culprit. But what did we see, she was begging her? Can you imagine? Somebody has come to rob and you turn around to say that ‘Mr. Armed robber, I beg of you to be a witness to this case that I have sent to court.’ Is that conceivable? Has that ever happened before? And does it make sense?

For the Attorney General to have conceded that she begged her to appear in court tells you her commitment level to this case. We don’t beg crooks. You make sure that you force them to come and testify.”
