Transport Minister Dzifa Ativor has been removed from cabinet by President John Mahama.
She is being replaced with the minister of Water resources Works and Housing, Dr Kwaku Agyemang Mensah, a document presented to Parliament by the presidency noted Friday.
Ghana’s constitution enjoins the President to appoint not more than 19 members into his cabinet.
The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has in recent times raised concerns over the number of ministers who sit in cabinet under the Mahama administration.
A previous list presented to the House had 20 Cabinet Ministers which included the Power and Water Resources Works and Housing Ministries, a situation which provoked controversy on the floor of the House.
Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alex Afenyo-Markin on February 6, raised an alarm over the list of Cabinet ministers saying the list is bloated and thus contradicts Article 76(1) of the 1992 constitution.
He lamented Government’s failure to properly communicate to the House on changes in cabinet.
